Needed some Edorado energy before I head over to the east coast for the holidays.

I had to prep several people for interviews last week. Many are nervous enough seeking work before the holidays, they don't need me to take them out of their element before they even walk in.

I always tell the story about my first corporate promotion with At&t around 1999/2000. I was in my late 20s, walked in, full energy, and never looked back. The atmosphere in the building was like a morgue. But after five interviews, when I walked out I had the best feeling in the world. I knew if they didn't choose me, then I was just too smiley for them.

I got the job.

An honest performance, to me, will always be "true" to whom I strive to be. A good coach, whether it is a little IT recruiter like me, or an agent or producer should always push for the best that a PERSON should do, rather than the best they hope you can do!

Have a wonderful holiday with you and yours!

Value is not measured in Treasury Notes. I decided to donate, only because that small amount is what I would pay in drinking a coffee if I ever came to see you in a local coffee shop performance, play, poetry reading in New York to share your talent and gifts to us fans. Talent and quality is the value I look for today. I look for talent and quality in everything I support and enjoy. Whether it is music, theatre, acting, customer service, gaming, or walking downtown Chicago on a break from my day.

I look forward to watching the production! Thank you for asking your friends, family, and fans to be a part of the process.

As a IT Recruiter in Chicago, I cannot tell you how many people I coach on what you just wrote. Getting work, in any field is based on being yourself, and to provide excellent examples to whomever is hiring. Getting the job is based on what they are looking for.. not much else. Take work that you enjoy, that you are good at, and continue to challenge yourself. The rest will come.

Now I know why I never leave comments on blogs...because I was feel stupid afterwards!
I would be very grateful if you could just ignore my last comment (directed @ Frida)....

Many thanks in advance and apologies for the previous ranting :(

@frida
Dear Frida,

First of all, I don't really like commenting other people's posts (I'm just too lazy!) but in this case I just could not help myself. I've started reading Edoardo Ballerini's blog last September (been hooked since then): I enjoy his musings and highly appreciate his "erudition" (I've actually learned quite a lot from this blog). But what I appreciate the most is his honesty (especially when it comes to expressing his own insecurities!), assiduity and courage (would you have the guts and the stamina to keep up a blog about your experience, professional and otherwise???).

Anyway, I just felt that your comment was a bit out of line (what's the deal with Edoardo Ballerini quotes in your last paragraph?!!!) and honestly, it was just plain rude (I'm not sure you actually get the point of this post, actually I don't think you get the point of the whole blog!) ....and I believe that your "I wish you will be able to find some kind of inner peace" is VERY obnoxious...

This said, you did say some nice things too!

Kinds regards,

Farah

I posted a Thanksgiving entry as well. As I was sitting and observing my parents, watching them interact with my husband's family, our nieces, nephews, I was in awe of the relationships that we had with each other. I know there are families out there that plans are rushed and stressed. However, my Thanksgiving has never been like that. My mom and dad have always invited their children, and spouses, and their kids to one place. Perhaps my mom did it so she didn't have to share her children. But it worked. My father in law is so grateful that my mom has done this for 20 years, he drops off the turkey a few days early. We all bring something, and the men clean up. In the middle of all the smiles, I realized that we, as family, are like this every time we get together. And yes, Thanksgiving is a treat, but perhaps we can make more than one day a year like this. And for no reason! Thank you for sharing.

I think I am going to post #4 at work. It is great that you shared that with your readers.

Sometimes "resting" is only possible with distancing yourself from those that only "want a piece of you." It doesn't matter the intent, but even emotional claws can drain a person from pursuing their purpose. After I removed people that were not in my best interest, my life changed more than I can describe. My family, my relationships, my work got so much better.

I still haven't found the laughter part. But I am trying!

I have to disagree with your writing mentor about this. Maybe HE came up with useless stuff at 3:00 am, but not everyone does. I have been awaked by things which made me write them down, only to read them later in the day and find I'd had a very useful breakthrough. My last book and one of my best short stories both came from things like this.

Go ahead, jot them down. If it's kindling, no harm done. But you never know when you'll capture something you'll be glad you didn't miss.
